The Specter

The Specter – from Descent Legends of the Dark

The spectre. Ok. How would you possible paint a specter?!?! It’s basically a ghost and all the possible ideas I have came up with, weren’t just good enough.

The Specter has been always a scary miniature for me, since I saw it for the first time in the box. A very intricate pattern of strings, no face (only eyes)… terrifying!

I have decided to take an unusual approach and take advantage of some dark tones to paint the rope and the strings/ribbons. Legs and arms, I have tried to use a pale tone, but closer to the lightest blue you can think of. Well, I was trying to paint a ghost!

The lanterns were supposed to glow, so I have used a very light green tone. For the lanterns’ structure and the chains, I have used a very nice mix of gold and copper (both from Citadel): Retributor Armour & Screaming Bell. I have used the latter on Brynn’s armour. For the eyes, I have used pure white (but with an underlying glowing yellow layer.

Also the base is very important: it’s kind of a graveyard thing, so it’s very align with the whole ghost concept!
