Leoric of the Books
from Descent – Journeys in the Dark (2nd edition)
Let’s confess: I was really concerned by the blue/green cloak of Leoric of the Books but turned out it was a fascinating process.
I primed the Leoric of the Books in white and, once dry, I applied my base color. I started with the skin and I finally moved to the cloak and all the accessories (book included). Don’t pay too much attention to its trim because I would paint it at the very end.
It’s important to clean up the white areas using any white color before shading. Speaking of which, I used Agrax Earthshade for the brown areas. I added some Nuln Oil and some Lahmian Medium and with this mix I shaded the page of the book. For the cloak I used an equal mix of Drakenhof Nightshade and Coelia Greenshade. On white areas, I added to the previous mix some Nuln Oil and plenty of Lahmian Medium .
For the highlight, I would suggest to focus on the cloak, on the book and on the stone Leoric holds on his left hand. I used the original base color for the cloak in 2 layers and some Sybarite Green. For the book and the stone I used Evil Sunz Scarlet, darken with some Caliban Green. Same technique I followed on Widow Tarha‘s cloak.
I gave to Leoric a worthy base, from Micro Art Studio.
