The Cave Spiders
from Descent – Journeys in the Dark (2nd edition)
Can’t complain, the Cave Spiders were very easy to paint. After the Barghest, these were my second challenge.
It’s also easy to make the Cave Spiders a flat black miniature so I choose to work on the base colour a little and introduce a little variety.
I used a brown tone as a starting point and I darken it up using some black. Also, I left the last part of the body a little clearer and I blended the tones together with a damp brush. At the end of the body I added some red details (like a real scary spider) and I used pure black for the legs and mouth. I looked for some inspirational ideas on Google 🙂
However, I lighten the black a little with some grey to provide some highlights on the legs, on the claws and on the lower part of the head.
I should paint them in batch but I painted only the Elite. Now, I have more spider to paint but, using the same source (Google) I will find other ideas to provide some variety.
